Lytchett Manor Striders 100 Members +

Congratulations

Our club has now passed the 100 member mark. This is down to the welcome given to new members and the friendly atmosphere amongst members at races and training sessions, especially in the bar on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  The large numbers at some races also gives much encouragement to everybody. Well done us all!

Thanks to George for the advertising in his shop.

Congratulations

The club had more than 25 runners in the following races:-

Milborne 10 (29); Bournemouth Bay ½ Marathon (26); Purbeck 10K (39); Poole 10k (34); Wayfarer Relays (30); The Beast (31); The Stickler (29).

We were the largest club in some cases.

Members have attended races all over Europe, and many PBs have been set.

Club Past, Present and Future

The success of the club has been built on the hard work put in by some members over the past sixteen years. Some of these members served on the committee in the past and some still do. We all owe them thanks for their hard work. With the increase in membership there is more work to be done,  and your committee is recommending the following proposals for the AGM in January:-

  • A Membership Secretary, to relieve The Treasurer, Heather, of meeting new members, collecting their subscription and issuing membership cards, keeping records of telephone numbers and e-mail addresses etc. (This involves amending the Constitution)
  • The Club Captain and Ladies Captain to hold office for two - four years.
  • Consideration to be given to appointing vice-captains to assist, stand-in for and to follow the Captains into office (not Committee members).

As usual all officers are subject to annual re-election.

Dave Hatch and Neil Russell are not seeking re-election as Secretary and Mens Captain.  Helen Yeoman is standing down. Thanks to them for all their hard work.

Dave will continue to organise the Lytchett 10. Neil will continue with the Newsletter.

A volunteer is needed for the Club Kit and for the Noticeboard. Catherine Shelley has volunteered to serve another year as Ladies Captain. Ken Oxford, Heather Brain and Jane Thomas are prepared to to stand again.

The Club will have vacancies for Secretary, Mens Captain, and one Committee member.

As usual all officers and committee members are subject to annual re-election.

We now have many younger members, who we are sure wish to participate in the running of the Club. Ordinary Committee members need only serve for a year, and the Captains for two - four as Vice-Captain and two - four as Captain.

A Nomination Form is online. The Proposer and Seconder must have the agreement of their nominee, and the forms must be returned by 31st December 2005.
